this little piggy.

[Katherine Bellamonte] Welcome to Cabrini Green, your one stop shop for the filth of the world.

Things happen in this area that turn Nuns habits entirely white, head to foot. Things happen in this area that defy the human brain and its capacity for reasoning why. How. The Garou of Maelstrom's Sept however, are different. They are not afraid of the things that slither and bump and grind away in the night; they are not afraid of the smell of rot and death and perversion --

they know it well.
Some that they might once have fought beside now run with their Gaia given enemies.

--

Katherine and Lukas are driving toward Bellamonte Park; this is a bad neighborhood and they stand out in Katherine's sleek vehicle. They might, were they anything but what and who they are, be concerned about the strong chances of it being stolen while they strolled the many blocks around the area.

"You know," the Silver Fang is saying conversationally, as her headlights bump and wash over rough roadside. "Sometimes I do wish for more male Kinfolk," she glances at Lukas before he can say it. "Not for that, but purely that they seem less effort than the girl--"

Something shoots out in front of her car and the Philodox's eyes widen; she hits her brakes with a horrific grinding of the tires.

There's a young man with his palms on her hood; and when he holds them up; they are covered in blood. His face is horrifically ravaged, and a hole in his side bares the disturbing white of bone.

--

At the Caern; Hunter and Adam are at the right place, at the right time. One of the Warders is heading toward them; she is the Theurge; a small, solidly built woman with a grim expression. "You two need to get to Bellamonte Park; we've just had another report of a mauling."

Her expression reads: it was no mauling.

"Go, quickly."

[Truth] She's small, but more solid than she seems. She's been ready to work on some golden idol, but that was beside the point. She checks what she has on her, and looks at Hunter. Alethea doesn't say much more than this-

"Let's go," and the hows and the whens aren't important. She's going to need a ride.

A pair that look the way they do -- which is to say, like a wealthy young couple going for a midnight ride -- don't come to Cabrini Green. They certainly don't come here after dark. And they certainly don't come looking for trouble.

The pair in Katherine's car are more than meets the eye, though. They're not a couple, for starters: they're a pack. And the woman driving so primly with her hands at ten and two is the voice of law amongst her people, second only to the leader of the entire Sept. And the man sprawling in the driver's seat, saying with almost flippant laziness,

"Bullshit. Biggest headache I ever had? Ray Ostermann. Fucked every other woman in the city, and then they all came crying to me because they wanted him for their own. You saw Marni tonight. She got him along with his bastard baby and she's still glaring daggers at me. You're lucky you only have kinswomen. They tend to just pull one or two down into the Vortex of Fuckery and Doom."

-- that man is the fist of war amongst their people, second only to the warder of the entire Sept. He yawns, then, and it's mid-yawn that Katherine suddenly slams on the brakes and his reflexes send him jolting upright to brace against the dashboard and -- SCREECH, the car stops.

There's a dead silence for an instant. Then Wyrmbreaker snaps out of his seatbelt, opens the car door. His foot falls heavy on the asphalt. He comes around front, seizes the ravaged man. Hard to say if his grip is urgent or violent or both. "What happened?" he demands.

[Wyrmbreaker] [hurr, nix luna's armor. not yet.]

[Burnout] When the warder is WELL out of ear shot, Hunter looks at Adam. "Fuckin' Theurges honestly.. was it a maulin' or was it a fuckin'.." He blinks, lowers his eyes. "Soz."

But off they go with supplies in hand, and the soft-tail roars into life at the edge of the Bawn. 1400CC's is far too powerful a bike to have in this weather when the roads are slippery as hell, but Hunter has the reactions to handle it, has the skill to know what to do. It's cold though, at least it's cold for Adam unless she wraps up like an Inuit.

It doesn't take long though, on a bike this fast and heading to a place so close by, doesn't take long at all. Soon they're on the street outside the park. And there's nobody here, nobody that they can recognise anyway.

He parks up, kicks the stand out and pockets the keys then dismounts after Adam gets off.

"Think we should be preppin' for a fight or whatever?" He says to Adam, but it sounds more like he's just voicing his thought process. "Yeah, probs should aye?" A pause. "Yeah."

And so he does.

[Wyrmbreaker] Five minutes ago, en route: Wyrmbreaker calls Simon.

"We're going on a hunt," he says. "Intel at the Caern points toward Bellamonte Park. Meet us there if you can."

[Bone-Grinder] Simon is out and about this evening as usual. He was warm and toasty inside his car, and though the thing wasn't the best base of operations it was a base and a rather solid one at that. So when he got the call a smile took shape... It meant he actually had time to prep for a conflict and the fact he had time to prep for a conflict meant that he had a slight advantage. His smile grew and he immediately stopped the car to turn it around and race in the direction of the others. The promise of violence always seemed to put a smile on the Full Moon's face.

The icy weather outside had no chance against the fury of a young hot headed Full Moon... Especially one with a trunk full of goodies and surprises.

[Truth] [She goes through that godawful little bag of hers, she's windblown and cold and she doesn't look to be anything other than completely and totally concentrated on her task at hand. The Fury inhales, and removes an easter egg, intricately painted, and crushes it in her palm. The chalk dust is spread over her arms, on her face, wherever it can go.

[Katherine Bellamonte] Bellamonte Park was a lovely little interlude in an otherwise crappy area.

The gates had been vandalized so many times that Katherine now did not bother to have it removed; she simply made sure they were securely locked at night and opened in the mornings. Oddly, the graffiti strewn walls made the park blend in far better with its surrounding areas. The loop rattled loudly overhead at intervals but what had once been an empty, industrial lot was now flush with greenery.

The Weaver did not govern alone here; the Wyld had taken back some of its own.

Tonight, there's an unsettling stillness to the street. Down a ways from where they dismount, a streetlight is flickering; buzzing on and off at strange intervals. The park gates are hanging open; the chain pulled far enough for something smaller than a Hispo wolf to sneak through were they intent.

They cannot smell blood on the air.
What mauling? What on earth was the Warder on about?

In the dark, it's hard, but after a minute, something rattles metallic-ally from inside the park grounds. It sounds rather a lot like one of the bins.

--

When Lukas seizes the ravaged man, he is like thin paper in his arms; his weight is nothing; his skin mottled and red; the traces of a beard growing wildly over his neck. He moans; as Katherine is stepping out of the car and glancing both ways, her face drawn, pale.

"Lukas," she warns. Inhales.

The man smelled like the Wyrm. Not fiercely, not intently enough for utter compromise; but mingled in there was the scent of Wyrm, and blood, and the pure breeding of a tribe. Strider, if they weren't mistaken. He hadn't run before their car at random; then.

"I ran away!," he shout-whimpers, and twists, helplessly in the Ahroun's grasp. "They're coming! They had me in a cage! They took us out and made us fight them." She shudders violently.

"They're coming!" His eyes roll in their sockets excitedly, the whites showing. Honor's Compass stares at him.

"Who? Who comes?"

There was bloody froth. "They did this to me, what do you think they'll do to you? They train them to eat you. I heard. I saw... things." He grows limp in the Ahroun's grasp. "They set them after me, laughing."

[Wyrmbreaker] A more merciful man, a kinder Garou, would let the man go now. Would say something like, We'll take it from here. Go someplace safe. Might even say, Bring word to the Caern.

Not Wyrmbreaker. His logic is hard, and whatever kindness, whatever hidden gentleness he sometimes shows to his pack, his own, there is no place for it in war. There is only the bottom line, the balance between victory and defeat. And his path is clear to him here. He can't send this man to the Caern; he might bring the Wyrm with him. But he can still use him, one more weapon in the fight.

"Pull yourself together," he says. "If you're still even a fraction of the warrior you used to be, stand with us now. Join your claws to ours. I will protect you to the best of my ability. But if you should die, at least you'll die fighting, not running.

"Are you with us?"

[Bone-Grinder] The Hatchback wouldn't take long to pull up to the park, and Simon came with a smile on his face. Those eyes already alight with excitement as he threw the door open and Immediately got his ass to work. He withdrew the keys from his car and pocketed those and reached into the back to grab a hold of his adorable little toy. The tool was labeled the Annihilator which Simon found delightfully appropriate as he took the time to actually apply a fetish that would make the soon to be makeshift weapon into something a tiny hint more dangerous.

[-1G for weapon Fetish]

He gave a little kiss to the tool."Well sweety let's see if you live up to your name."He says before pushing open the door on his car and stepping out. He took a firm hold on the weapon as he slammed the door shut. Reaching back to make certain he had his knife on hand, just in case.

He then paused to sniff at the air with a little smile as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. Today he would be hunting in the dark and so... The dark clothing he usually wore out would have a slight benefit. Slowly he pulled the bandanna up over his face and the hood over his head as he made his way in the direction of the gates spying Hunter and Adam there put a little smile on his face. Plenty of backup... Whatever they were about to fight had better hope it's fuckin' King Kong... Cause if not it's not gonna last long.

[Burnout] He hears the sound, coming from inside the park, like a trash bin or some other metallic object and Hunter looks at Adam, raises an eyebrow. "Think the others'r in there?"

A pause and he probably shouldn't do this, but he decides he might check it out a little. His begins to stretch and shift through a myriad of forms, up and down, elongating and expanding then contracting and shrinking until a dark chocolate brown wolf pads towards the gate and sniffs. Green eyes peer through the gap.

His tail wags to Adam behind him, and then he spins around as a flourish of Rage comes walking down the street. It's Simon. Hunter tips his head at him. His body language displays it as best he can, a few yips do the rest. Going to take a quick peek. Look for others, try gather.

[Katherine Bellamonte] There's a lot to be lauded about the Shadow Lord. He tries to instill confidence into this wearied, bloodied soul in his arms who feels about as substantial as tissue paper. He tells him to pull himself together; to join his claws to theirs and he submits; this stranger without more than a barely breathed "okay".

There's blood leaking from his injury, dripping; black in the night air.

"Okay." He says again, reed thin.

--

The noises in the Park don't lessen the longer the Garou don't investigate. They get worse. When Simon pulls up; there's a high squealing of several creatures at once; and something heavy topples. Whatever it is, it brings with it the shattering of something made of glass. Several somethings.

[Bone-Grinder] Simon is not a fool and the screaming of multiple creatures in the darkness means that the Garou are going to be at a slight disadvantage. That is where Simon stops and smiles to himself. He then turns and walks back to his Car. The thing about being the kind of guy who plans for eventualities means that you tend to keep all manner of useful things in your car. So the door opens up and out comes something large and cylindrical. A small electric lantern... The kinda thing you might make use of on a campting trip but recharge with your battery. He's no stranger to camping out in his car so keeping one of these things on hand is always useful, and since it's electric there was no need to turn it on until it was needed. Which meant the group could still move without drawing attention to themselves.

Simon gives a little smile when he finally walks up beside Adam and the others."Be Prepared..."He says with a grin as he holds up the lantern."Boyscout motto or some shit."He grins a little as he looks up ahead into the darkness."Dark and spooky out tonight... Cold as shit. If the place wasn't named after Katherine here... I mighta suggested a Bonfire."

[Wyrmbreaker] It's not much, but it'll do. The most grievous of the injuries close of their own accord. Wyrmbreaker releases the other now, turning toward the park, his profile alert and animal in the dark.

"All right," he says, to this new ally as well as his packmate, "gear up. Let me take point. When we join with the others, let the Ahrouns hold the front line. You two try to strike from behind. And the Theurge will stand ready to heal.

"Let's go."

[Burnout] Hunter watches the herd briefly, follows their movements, studies their patterns, memorises the leaders markings as best he can and then he's out of there. He darts back into darkness and just as suddenly as he disappeared from view at the gate entrance, he reappears. His fur shrugs off him as he pulls into a standing position, the body of a man, the face of Hunter Matthews.

"Simon." Hunter says, reaches out a hand to clasp the other warriors wrist while his eyes drift over to Adam. "Skull pigs." He states "Three from what I's could see'n'all, devourin' human flesh, Gots'an Alpha wif'em you know, pig leader, just a bigger version'na little ones. You guys see anyone else waitin' ta meet up with us?"

[Truth] Skull pigs, three of them. She inhales sharply.
"Right," she says. And she looks at them. The Fury looks at the sky and winces, as though she is apologizing to some heavy and important spirit. From her bag comes a little jar... no, a very large jar of powder. She winces and looks at her companions. She starts painting hte boys with it. Up and down, hastily, and she is talking the whole time, "you know how true Fear works, right? Your enemy sees you and either flips their shit or they- who am I kidding, you two are ahrouns, of course you know true fear. This... this should work kind of like that if we activate it together."

She looks at them very seriously.

"Treat it with respect, you're males. My hide is on the line."

She finishes painting herself up.

"I think I heard someone, but I don't know for sure, Guardians didn't mention anyone. I'll make sure you guys stay up, just make sure you give me distance," she says.

[Bone-Grinder] He smiles a little."Skull Pig... Lemme Guess that means it's come kinda weird pig with like... A Skull?"He asks with a grin."They smart?"He asks with another smile."You sure we should charge in? Why not climb some trees? Or get atop a building... Lure them in then jump on their backs or something? You know limit the possibility they can use Tusks or something?"He throws in as a suggestion. He's never fought or seen these things but he's got ideas of what they look like, and well one thing about fighting animal monsters is they tend to A) Be stupid and B) Have Mobility Issues that can be exploited. Both of which he hopes to take advantage of.

[Katherine Bellamonte] "My name is Anderson," he says, breathing a touch easier with the healing powers of the gourd crushed against him. He seems keen for the Ahroun and Philodox to know it. His eyes are a very warm brown; he might be native American even for the name; he breathes again.

"Sees the Last is my true name, Galliard of the Striders."

Thus said, he easily falls in behind the Shadow Lord and the Silver Fang pack-mates, as they begin toward Bellamonte Park. Katherine's expression, one might imagine, is outraged.

The trio move on; when from behind them is an unpleasant squeal and thunk. A young Pig, from the height and breadth of it; had tracked the bleeding Strider -- had been eating the bleeding Strider if its face and teeth were any indication. It had just collected the side of Katherine's car, and was sitting, dazed, shaking its head.

--

At the Park, the squeals draw nearer.

They are out of time, they're coming.

[Reaction posts and then inits!]

[Burnout] Hunter stops dead in his tracks when the Fury starts to paint him and he looks at the substance all over him with a questioning eyebrow raised.

"S'itchy." He complains, wrinkles his nose. But he doesn't rub at it, doesn't scratch at it or shake it from his body.

OINK SQUEEAL RAAAAAAR

They are coming.

Hunter shifts, he bursts up into Crinos, huge arms spreading out before leaping down into a beast that should not be so agile. Huge salivating Hispo jaws crunch and grind teeth together as the final parts of the transformation are complete. He steps to the far side of the gate, waiting for the pigs and their assault.

[Wyrmbreaker] "You can tell that name to the Caern yourself," Wyrmbreaker says firmly, beginning to burn with a silvery incandescence that lights every feature, every strand of fur now bursting over his body, "after this."

[Truth] She rolls her shoulders back and draws her bow. She said that she needed the distance, and she is just fine for that, for now. The female shifts upward, and once she reaches her crinos form, she lets out a godawful sound. It's almost like an angered harpy, a raging soul, a wailing banshee- a woman scorned. The sound is terrible, and it is a battle cry, and it is a rallying cry.

She is ready.

[Bone-Grinder] Simon gives a little Grin and reaches down with a smile on his face. Slowly his form shifts from homid into Crinos swiftly and with startling ease... He shifted with as much ease and comfort as your average Metis it was almost frightening to behold. He stood ready as he hung the Lantern up in the nearest tree ready to be turned on whenever light was necessary. He lifted his weapon in hand and readied his claws for battle

[Wyrmbreaker] Short. Ferocious. Bloody. That's how the combat was, and when it's over, not even three seconds have gone by. The sting of fetid blood still in his mouth, Wyrmbreaker pushes back from the fallen pig, rising up on his hind legs. He rarely takes this form: the most impressive, but not so deadly, really, as the hispo. He spares a second to check on his companions, Kate's white fur splashed with dark red, the faltering Strider a little more confident now, perhaps, after his victory over the thing that had tried to devour him alive.

In Wyrmbreaker's hands, the long, curving tusks of the skull pig -- broken off close to the base -- gleam dully. He shoves them into his talens bag and cinches it shut, then turns his head toward the park proper.

"Too small," he growls. "Too few. This isn't the main pack -- do you hear that?" Distant snaps, growls, squeals. "Let's move."

[Katherine Bellamonte] The Silent Strider had tried to bolster spirits and howl for the battle; to raise perhaps his own lagging spirits.
